This ain’t your momma’s Big Turtle. This is the NEW and IMPROVED Big Turtle 2.0 trail race. 50 Miler for those wanting to go long. 50K for the ultrarunner who wants to be done in time for supper. 10 Miler for anyone wanting to try trail running for the first time without the pain and suffering of an ultra.
What’s New in 2025?
New start and finish line location! We’ve moved our race further onto Morehead State University’s campus, and we’ll be staging our race in the plaza next to the Student Center. We’re right behind Sawstone Brewing and in the heart of downtown Main Street!
50 Mile route changes! We’ve rerouted portions of the 50 Mile route to give an extra aid station and an EXTRA CLIMB! Enough people complained about having to run 10 miles between aid stations (boo freaking hoo), so we routed the course down onto Elk Lick Road to give you an extra aid station. Now you get to climb down and back up to the ridge TWICE more. You’re welcome! Now let’s see who has what it takes to beat the Big Turtle!

All Next Opportunity Events races are cupless. All runners will be responsible for carrying their own hydration containers (bottles, hydration packs, belts, etc).
Aid stations and finish line will have NO CUPS!
CREWS, PACERS, AND DROP BAGS
No pacers. No crews. This is your race. Your challenge. And you’ve gotta do it yourself.
50K and 10 Mile runners may NOT have drop bags.
50 Mile runners can have drop bags at Terminus and Big Perry Aid Stations. See COURSE INFO section below for aid station mileages and times.
Drop bags will be brought back to the finish line after the aid station closes.

Click the button above to reference cut-offs. Runners not OUT of the aid station at the cut-off time will not be permitted to continue. Once you’ve missed a cut-off and a volunteer has told you to not continue, if you continue running you’ll be banned from future NOE races. Show up trained to make the cut-offs.
