It's been real. We're closing shop!

Hey Runners! 

We'll keep this short and sweet! With the new year approaching it's the perfect time to look ahead at 2025, and with that we wanted to let all of you know our plans for the future of Next Opportunity Events. 

TLDR Version: 2025 will be the final year of operation for NOE. We will host two events in 2025: Red River Gorge Ultra and Big Turtle 2.0. After that, we will cease operations for good. 

Long(er) Version: Yes, you heard that correctly. Brandy and Mike have decided to close the book on Next Opportunity Events effective May 1, 2025. Our final event will be the Big Turtle 2.0 in Morehead on April 26, 2025. 

The 2025 Y'allhalla Ultras race is cancelled. Registered runners have been notified, and refunds are being issued.

We started this business in 2015 to put Kentucky on the map of national trail running destinations and to create memorable experiences and community gatherings for trail runners across the country. However, in the fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic and the increasing financial challenges of putting on events due to the rising costs of EVERYTHING, it is fair to say that this labor of love has turned into, well, just labor. We simply do not enjoy this work anymore, and it is time for us to move on to other passions and pursuits that we find more fulfilling. 

We want you to know that we are forever grateful to each of you who supported us over the years by spending your hard-earned cash on the opportunity to come and run in Kentucky (and Virginia for those who braved the Breaks Ultra). We're thankful for the friendships we made along the way, and we wish you all the very best in your journeys ahead. 

If we had one final ask of every one of you, PLEASE COME OUT AND RUN WITH US IN APRIL! We really want the RRG Ultra and Big Turtle 2.0 to be a rip-roaring good time. So please consider running with us at our final two ultra races this spring. Let's go out with a bang!!!
