We Pay Your Race Fees
As inflation hits us all in different ways, we at NOE continue to think about how we can keep our races profitable while minimizing the financial barrier to entry for trail and ultramarathon running. One of those things that has skyrocketed in recent years is “hidden fees.” You know the drill: you go to buy something online and by the time you get to the checkout screen you’re paying way more than you initially thought.
By the time online sellers add on shipping charges, card processing fees, and “platform” fees consumers can be priced out of some online purchases. Let’s know forget sales tax as well.
We’re Paying Your Processing Fees
We’ve decided to absorb the processing fees for races sold through Ultrasignup.com (which is all of our races right now) beginning TOMORROW AUGUST 1, 2024. So runners will only be paying for the actual registration price of the race and sales tax. NOE will cover the credit card fees and the $3-$3.50 per signup that Ultrasignup charges.
How Will This Look When Signing Up
Right now, when you click on the signup button for any race on Ultrasignup, the platform shows the TOTAL cost of the signup (registration + Ultrasignup fee + credit card processing fee + tax). That is the way Ultrasignup displays it, and there is nothing that we can do about it.
THE GOOD NEWS
The prices advertised on our web site and in the descriptions of our races on Ultrasignup are what you will actually pay (plus tax). So the price shown when you click on the “Register” button on Ultrasignup will be more than what you actually pay. When you get to the checkout screen, your Ultrasignup fee and credit card processing fee will be deducted from what you actually pay. NOE will pay those fees for you.
Changes To Price Tiers
Starting August 1, 2024, we will no longer have a three-tier price setup. All of our races will have one flat fee for each distance until 6 weeks out from a race. 6 weeks out from race date registration prices will increase by 25%. This is in an effort to encourage early signups.
